1) Why do you think the crowds’ answers about Jesus are positive but still insufficient? Why is it significant that this truth is revealed by the Father, not discovered by human reasoning alone?

2) In what ways are you tempted to hold a reduced or incomplete view of Jesus (teacher, helper, example—but not Lord)? Who in your life needs to be challenged with the same question: “Who do you say that Jesus is?”

3) How can a church unintentionally drift into holding an incomplete view of Jesus?

4) What does it mean practically for the church to be built on the confession of Jesus as the Christ? If Jesus has promised that His church will prevail, what would it look like for us to actually live like we believe that?
