Humble Listening & Lasting Faith

** The Parable - v.1-9

** The Purpose - v.10-17

** The Point - v.18-23

For Further Discussion

1) When you hear the phrase “He who has ears, let him hear,” what do you think Jesus is inviting—or warning—us to do? Which part of this parable have you heard most often in the past? Which part do you tend to overlook?

2) Which soil do you most easily recognize in your own life right now? Why? Have you ever seen yourself move from one “soil” to another

over time? What contributed to that change?

3) In the parable, some people respond with joy but fall away under pressure. What kinds of pressure most commonly test faith today?

Jesus names the cares of the world and the deceitfulness of riches as threats. Which of those feels more dangerous for you personally—

and why?

4) What does humble hearing look like in practice—not just on Sun-

days, but throughout the week? What are some subtle ways we can

hear the Word often but listen poorly?

5) How does this parable point us to the Gospel—specifically to what Jesus gives and how He keeps His people when our hearing and perseverance are imperfect?
