Whom Shall I Fear?
24-25: Being like our Master
26-27: The unveiling of Jesus’ message
28: A healthy fear of God
29-31: Our Father’s watchful care for us
32-33: The approval of Christ
For Further Reflection:
1) What fears do you experience when you have the opportunity to talk to people about Jesus?
2) Which of the realities from this passage do you find most helpful in quelling these fears?
a) The privilege of being like our Master
b) The vindication of Jesus’ message in the end
c) Fear of God that outweighs any earthly danger
d) Our all-knowing, sovereign Father’s care for us e) Christ’s approval of those who acknowledge Him
3) A healthy fear of God does not push us away, but toward Him in trembling awe and loving dependence. When you think about God, is there any element of healthy fear in your mind? How can you nurture a healthy fear of God?
4) Read Exodus 20:18-21, which comes right after God gave the Israelites the 10 commandments. Why were the people afraid? What does Moses mean when he tells them not to fear, while at the same commending a proper fear of God?
5) Psalm 27 was written by a man whose healthy fear of God had quelled his fear of others. Read it aloud as a prayer praising your heavenly Father who cares for you!
