The Dividing Sword of Christ
1) The Gospel Divides (v.34-36)
2) Undivided Loyalty to Christ (v.37-39)
3) Hospitality That Unites (v.40-42)
For Further Reflection:
True peace is not the absence of conflict, but the presence of Christ—and allegiance to Him may divide before it unites.
1) Why does following Jesus cause division, even within families? Have you or someone you know experienced relational tension because of faith in Christ?
2) In what areas of your life is it hardest to put Jesus first? What steps could you take to reorder those priorities?
3) What do the “reward” statements in verses 41–42 reveal about how God values even small acts of faithfulness? How can we be more aware of the way we “receive” others in Jesus’ name?
Read Colossians 3:1-17. May the peace of Christ rule in your hearts this week!
