1. Verse 1 says there is “now no condemnation.” a. What does “no condemnation” mean in your own words? b. Why is this truth foundational for Christian joy?

2. What do you think keeps people from living in the freedom of this verse? (Examples: guilt, shame, legalism, painful past experiences)

3. What does it mean to set the mind on “the things of the Spirit”? a. What competes for your attention or imagination?

4. Paul says the mindset of the Spirit brings “life and peace.” a. Describe a time you experienced this spiritual peace.

5. How does the Spirit’s indwelling shape your understanding of daily Christian living? a. What difference does it make that God’s presence is in you, not far away?
