OUR METHODOLOGY IS EXPRESSED THIS WAY:

As a community of believers we:
Worship God and submit to Him in prayer (Matt 22:37, John 4:23-24)
Walk in the Word through discipleship (Ps 1:1-2, 1 John 1:7)
Work in the Body of Christ for its edification (Eph 2:10)
Witness to others about the hope of the gospel (Acts 1:8, Rev 12:11)
Welcome one another into our homes and hearts (1 Pet 4:8-9, Acts 2:42)

So at Faith Community Church we want to make sure that we have activities, meetings, events, etc., that provide time for:
(1) worshipping God,
(2) applying the Bible in our study of it,
(3) working together as we use our gifts,
(4) reaching out to those outside the church, and
(5) practicing hospitality as Christians.  

We must not neglect any of these areas, and we must always review our budget and our schedule of services and activities to make sure that we are providing opportunities in each of these elements that we believe are crucial in helping people grow as disciples, or devoted followers, of Jesus Christ.

At Faith Community Church, we are in the continual process of developing a culture that glorifies God greatly. Here are some of the key spiritual maturity traits we want to see modeled as we grow together:

We value the biblical priority of the local church.
We recognize that church membership is not a “consumer choice” based on personal needs, but an important commitment that reflects our obedience to Christ. While we do not exalt commitment to an organization over a personal relationship with God, we recognize that participation in the life of a local church is necessary for each believer to fulfill his/her God-given potential.

We are ruled by grace.
We recognize that our relationship with God depends entirely on His grace. Any good thing that we have and any good work that we do, we see as an example of His grace in our lives. Since our faith is based on God’s grace, we will seek to live graciously in our relationships with others. We believe, that grace produces a deeper, more holy response than law.

We value excellence.
Excellence honors God, inspires people and gives others the right opinion of God. We believe God deserves our best effort in all we do. This includes being intentional with what we do and then being open to feedback and evaluation. We define excellence as doing the best we can with what we have.

We value teamwork.
We believe that ministry is best accomplished through teams which are stuctured so that we may draw on each other’s strengths towards a common purpose.
Ecclesiastes 4:12; Luke 10:1
 
We value unity.
The Scriptures make abundantly clear that there is no room for quarreling or gossip in the church. We believe our unity, which is nothing more than a manifestation of our love and devotion to one another, is an essential part of our witness to the greater community. We have a clear biblical plan for resolving disputes and affirm that members have a responsibility to be reconciled to one another.

We value diversity.
Within our unity of purpose and bond of love, we appreciate the diversity of personality, giftedness, and cultural backgrounds that God has given to us. As we share our different backgrounds and life histories, God is able to enrich our fellowship with one another.

We value honest inquiry.
We believe that biblical Christianity is not a blind leap of faith. We don’t demand quick or emotional responses to the call of Christ in a person’s life. God has clearly revealed the essentials of our faith and diligent exploration of the Scriptures will lead a person to a faith that is intellectually honest, deeply satisfying, and continually growing.

We value relationships.
Therefore, we value people over programs, buildings and things. We endeavor to develop meaningful, caring relationships within our congregation so that we encourage one another to live Christ-like lives. Because all people matter to God we also seek to build relational bridges to the unchurched in order to touch their lives with the gospel.

We value generosity.
We recognize that God has richly blessed our congregation both with financial wealth and with a wealth of talent and other personal resources. We seek to live lives characterized by generosity towards one another and toward those outside the church who are less fortunate than we are. We believe that biblical stewardship is both a response of a loving heart to the grace of God and a skill which can be developed through biblical instruction.
