After all we are all so anxious to get back to what used to be our lives. So here’s the logic behind the Hooray! I was thinking that social distancing is really a solid biblical principle.

Keeping our distance from sin is to be expected for the one who desires to live a godly life.
Psalm 19:13 “Moreover, keep your servant from willful sins; do not let them rule me. Then I will be blameless and cleansed from blatant rebellion.”

The Bible clearly teaches us that we should separate (social distance more than six feet!) ourselves from sinners who would lead us down a pathway away from God.

The Apostle Paul says in 1 Thessalonians 1:6 “And you became followers of us and of the Lord,” Make no mistake about it we will follow someone and so Paul also makes the point, “Do not be deceived: “Bad company corrupts good morals.”

So the need for us to keep ourselves clean from the world is a kind of social distancing in a positive way that transcends even Covid 19.

Pslam 1:1-3
1 How blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked,
Nor stands in the path of sinners,
Nor sits in the seat of scoffers!
2 But his delight is in the law of the Lord,
And in His law he meditates day and night.
3 He will be like a tree firmly planted by streams of water,
Which yields its fruit in its season
And its leaf does not wither;
And in whatever he does, he prospers.

When we were kids and someone did something we didn’t like we would stick out our tongues. Something that Im guessing isn’t a thing anymore. Of course if my mother noticed such a display I would be in hot water for sure because it was never considered a nice thing to do. That said today you can get by with that and no-one would ever know. What a time!

Made me think about how easy it is to hide behind a mask during even normal times. I am not talking about the kinds of physical masks that we wear today. I am speaking of the charade or act that we present on the outside when we assume the appearance of something we are not.
We can pretend everything is okay when it’s not and we can pretend and act like we are walking with our Lord when we are not, we can just pretend about everything. In fact our lives can be pretty much a lie that we show to the world.

As I go out wearing a mask you may not know what is written on my face or what I am thinking but rest assured our Heavenly Father knows. He sees all and knows even the thoughts and intents of our hearts even when we are hiding it from the world.

Hebrews 4:12 “For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.”
